Freeview with Sky Sports

Freeview with Sky Sports is fast becoming a popular option that many are buying to keep abreast of the current sports news. There are various price ranges and subscription types, but Ofcom appear to have made a good decision allowing Sky Sports to become available on Freeview.
Freeview with Sky Sports was, of course, not always an option. In June this last year, it was put to Ofcom that Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 should become available through Freeview. This was quite a new and exciting prospect; it would be the first time these channels would become available through an aerial and not via satellite.

When Ofcom made the decision, there were still some kinks to iron out. Around the same time as the announcement, Sky said that it would be taking off its Sky Sports New Channel from Freeview, and putting it back into their own paid subscription bundles. It was replaced with Sky 3+1.

Despite the niggles, the fact that Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 are available, with no contract, via Freeview, has made a lot of sports fans happy. Fans can choose whether to have just Sky Sports 1 or just Sky Sports 2, or can get both of them for a little extra cost. There are also options to get the channels in HD, often for a small extra monthly cost.

Freeview with Sky Sports was controversial when it was first conceived, but now many happy fans have the chance to see the premium sports channels on their Freeview boxes.
